喜迎財神 / 吉利錢生財 華人搶購
●封面一隻燙金福泰豬仔，一旁寫著中英文Lucky Money Note 和「吉利錢」和「亥豬納福」四字。內頁則以「五福臨門」的卡通版金元寶五小福為主圖，旁邊附上英文介紹的生肖吉利錢寓意。
以序號「8888」開始的第二期第六版「豬年吉利錢」，去年12月18日中午財政部印鈔局首發，在網路商店和印鈔局、鑄幣局禮品店同時出售，12萬8888份於36小時內即告售罄。
「吉利錢」是美國財政部鑄幣和印鈔局唯一針對特定族裔發行的貨幣產品。印鈔局局長歐利亞(Leonard Olijar)說，農曆春節前發行吉利錢，希望讓美國及世界更了解中國傳統文化，也彰顯在美華人對美國文化的貢獻。
「我聽人說豬年出生的人個性很好，也很有福氣，也聽說，2019年是大賺錢的一年，過去30年，我的工作就是『生財』(making money)。」歐利亞說，從2000年推出以來，至今已發行30種不同型態的「吉利錢」，銷量超過200萬份。
「吉利錢」面額一美元，賣價根據下單數目，單張3.95至5.95元，仍供不應求。為何要「用五倍的價錢買一元紙鈔」? 印鈔局負責「吉利錢」製作與發行的營銷主任凱文．布朗(Kevin Brown)說，限量收藏的概念，讓貨幣超值。
儘管換了三位印鈔局局長，因遺傳性疾病而近乎全盲的布朗是「吉利錢」團隊元老，也是最熟悉吉利錢「前世今生」的核心人物；2012年自印鈔局退休的王正昌說，這個為財政部生財的創意點子就是布朗的靈感；來自中國的龐軍，每年都為討喜的生肖圖像、配圖詩詞獻策。
布朗說，吉利錢帶有幸運意涵，受到美國亞裔歡迎，常常一推出就被搶購一空；除了美國的華人客源，遠東地區國家也是「吉利錢」熱銷地區，如中國、香港、新加坡、台灣。
「我拿來當賀節卡片，禮輕情意重。」一位移民新澤西州20年多的李女士說，她每年要兒子訂60張，趕在農曆新年前寄給親友，「除了第一年沒來得及買，18歲的長孫現在已經收集了18張的生肖吉利錢了。」她說，希望子媳能繼續把這項傳統傳下去。
越來越多美國華人買來當新年「伴手禮」，生意人則特別喜愛將吉利錢貼在顯眼處「招財」。
由於市場反應佳，印鈔局生產更多元的「吉利錢」相關貨幣商品，例如去年7月問世、以熊貓為主題的兩元吉利錢，每份售價12.88元。
如果覺得送一元、兩元紙鈔小氣， 印鈔局迎合豪客還有其他選項。12年前的豬年，印鈔局曾推出面值20元的珍藏版吉利錢，每張售價為39.95元；2009年虎年則推出面額50元的龍舟吉利錢。目前30種「吉利錢」商品中，面額最大的是2015年推出的限量版百元「福祿壽喜」吉利錢，「福祿壽喜臨門，金銀財寶齊來」。
從今年開始，財政部印鈔局的吉利錢網售業務與鑄幣局合併，購買吉利錢的官網改為https://catalog.usmint.gov/currency/lucky-money-collection/。目前除了2元熊貓吉利錢，各種吉利錢都已售罄缺貨。
